Implementing Kanban Roadmap

The complete visual guide to Implementing Kanban Systems, Creating Kanban Cards, Performing Kanban Calculations, Creating a Plan for Every Part and Sustaining a Kanban System

As Lean practitioners and mentors we get to visit and work with many companies. Some are new to Lean, most have already launched their Lean journey, and some consider themselves veterans or experts. Rarely, however, do we find organizations that are managing their materials as well as they could. Even companies that have fully embraced the Lean materials management methods often have holes in their process, and are still plagued with excessive working capital needs and shortages. Kanban, as a tool of Lean material management, is not appropriate for all supplies and materials, and is not a panacea. However, if we apply the 80/20 rule (80% of our part numbers are "B" or "C" items) we find that most materials are in fact good candidates for the Kanban method, and that by placing a majority of our materials under Kanban control we now have time to focus on the "A" items that do need close management.

At Leonardo Group Americas we have developed a set of flow-charts, called LeanRoadMaps®, that document the step-by-step process of Implementing Kanban, developing a kanban system, creating kanban cards and performing kanban calculations. Kanban is a powerful and essential element of Lean and Flow Manufacturing.  By clicking on the link below you will have the opportunity to download the "Vision Map" for Implementing Kanban. We just need your email address and name.
